The price of tsavorite can be high or more affordable. For two good-quality stones, emerald is generally more expensive. The factors affecting prices are multiple and interconnected. For example, an exceptional tsavorite may not cost more than a medium-quality emerald.
In addition to quality criteria, you need to take into account the origin of the stones, unheated tsavorites and fluctuating demand. However, demand is increasing for tsavorite, so prices per carat can be significant for the finest specimens. As most green garnets are less than 2 carats, the larger ones can command significant prices, but it's not all about carats.
We're talking about a very distinctive stone, and connoisseurs often know a tsavorite from an emerald . emerald. It's usually lighter (transparent) and more brilliant. It's also much rarer, but large tsavorite stones are hard to come by.
If you're hesitating about a ring with tsavorite, there are advantages: intensity, luminosity, a wider variety of hues (even if emeralds can be lighter or darker), more choice of fancy cuts. That said, some prefer emerald, the prestigious gemstone known for millennia, so highly symbolic and which, for a collector, can represent a safer investment (with a high-quality gem).
Essentially, tsavorite signifies vitality and regeneration, and is attributed many virtues: it is said to bring luck, prosperity and success.
In lithotherapy, it can be used to soothe, rebalance energies, energize relationships, protect, restore confidence or hope, chase away bad emotions.
Rather rare, sought-after for its transparency and brilliance, tsavorite is a hard, solid stone, cut in all sorts of shapes: round, oval, cushion, rectangular, heart-shaped... Belonging to the garnet family, and sometimes called " tsavorite garnet ", this magnificent green stone is of growing interest to the jewelry world.
It's become popular since the 80s and 90s, and no wonder, with its deep, fiery green and tropical vegetation accents. In any case, it's a popular color, reminiscent of certain emeralds. An imperial green, but other shades are also very popular, such as bottle green. And compared with other stones, tsavorites rarely contain inclusions visible to the naked eye.
Garnets come in a variety of colors, and green garnet comes mainly from African countries, principally Kenya. It takes its name from the Tsavo region of Kenya, where it was discovered in 1967. There is also tsavorite from Madagascar, which is often smaller. The stone is reminiscent of green tourmaline, but is generally less saturated.
